Educational Licensure

This time last year in Jauary 2022, I completed by online teaching portfolio and sucessfully passed the online interview with two other EAL educators and a moderator to become a Vermont State Educator for EAL and ESL students! This involved one trip back to Vermont state to sit the Praxis Core exams and also attend a Peer Review Clinic in Montpelier , Vermont.

A big thank you to Kent Dwyer, David GrifithJohnathan Sceerey and Erica Swansonat SJA Jeju for the help and support with observing me, helping with documentation and allowing me to take over some of their classes.

The last step was to pass get my finger prints taken in Japan and sent for a criminal background check in Vermont……during Covid-19 lockdowns…… on a specific type of paper and format that the U.S. embassy in Tokyo will not help you with.

Fortunately, I found a place in Tokyo that could do everything. I just called and made an appointment and paid in cash on the spot. The whole process to 20 minutes or so.

After I cleared the criminal background check, I received my licensure.
